windows

Homeowners can choose from an extensive range of timber sash windows which includes the UK’s slimmest traditional sash window.

We have a traditional box sash windows for any site eventuality including bay windows.

Our vertical sliding sash window is architect designed to ensure that our box sash reproduces, as faithfully as possible, the simple elegance of English sash windows. The windows have slim sash frames, meeting rails and glazing bars with traditional mouldings subtly modified to suit modern construction technology.

Sashes are hung as standard on smooth running chains, retaining the long proven reliability of simple counterbalance weights. Available in stainless steel or brass finish, our sash chains have a unique and individual appeal and are very popular. However, for the traditionalists we offer the option of hanging sashes on traditional sash cords, which are pre-stretched to accommodate the weight of double glazed units.

Quadruple draught strips stop rattles, and extremely high insulation (1.1W/m2K) glazing units minimise heat loss and down draughts. Multi-layer timber sections that resist warping and twisting are used in the manufacture.

Our timber sash windows are available in Meranti (hardwood), European Redwood and Oak.

Sash windows are available factory finished with high performance micro-porous timber coatings for maximum protection. Any standard RAL colour and dual colour option is available. They are also available in a choice of five different stain finishes and sash windows manufactured using oak are available in hand oiled oak finishes (light and dark).

Glass is fitted from room side for security. Astragal squares, leaded lights and diamond leaded lights options are also available.

Sash windows are fitted with 24mm (4/16/4) glazing as standard with soft-coat energy saving glass and warm edge spacer bars to give 1.1 W/m2K U-value. Argon/Krypton gas filled sealed units are available with clear annealed, patterned, toughened, acoustic, laminated and bio-clean glass options.

Our sash windows are fitted with lockable Fitch catches.

Fitch catches and D handles are available in a choice of brass or chrome.

Regular maintenance of timber sash windows and mechanical parts such as handles is essential for their long term performance.

The decorative finish applied to timber sash windows must be maintained. Annual inspection should be made and any blemishes dealt with, as necessary. Check for damage caused by wear or for scratches, abrasions and faulty operation of hardware. Timber sash windows should be wiped clean, if only to remove dirt and grime, using a sponge and mild detergent in water at three monthly intervals. Abrasive or corrosive cleaners and materials must not be used.

Glass should be cleaned in the normal way with warm, mild soapy water or a quality glass cleaner.
